Hockey Day in Canada and the RCAF Flyers?

The Air Force Association of Canada presented replica jerseys of the 1948 Olympic Gold Medal winning hockey team from Canada - the RCAF Flyers - to two of the seven surviving members.

This presentation would not have been possible without the significant investment and interest of Roger Edwards, who had the sweaters designed and manufactured over the past few months. Mr. Ab Renaud and André Laperierre were feted at a luncheon in front of about 150 to 200 people. The President of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association presented the players with replica gold medals manufactured in Switzerland (home of the losing team in 1948); and the President of the Canadian Olympic Association announced that the team will be inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame on 12 April 2008. Dean Black brought greetings from the serving members of today's air force and members of the Air Force Association and presented each player with the jerseys, courtesy of Roger Edwards, Inc., and with an RCAF ball hat courtesy of Dax Wilkinson of National Heritage Brands.

Wearing the sweaters Ab and André dropped the puck at the hockey game between the Ottawa Senator's and the Montreal Canadians on Hockey Day in Canada.

Ab Renaud and André Laperriere Who is this guy and was he really on the 1948 Team?

This was a great event; Ab Renaud and Andre Laperriere truly had a great time. They are looking forward to the induction into the Olympic Hall of Fame in Calgary on 12 April.
