Introduction to 904 WingWhere are we?904 Wing of the Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC) meets in the village of Ajijic located on the shores of Lake Chapala, Mexico. Lake Chapala is about 40 km south of Guadalajara, which is the capital of Jalisco State and the second largest city in Mexico. 904 Wing is the only AFAC wing in Mexico. Who Are We? We are a group of about 50 ex-military and civilian aviators and aviation enthusiasts who gather each month to share a common interest. Most of us are full-time residents of the Lake Chapala area. However, about one-third of 904 Wing members are 'snowbirds', who live in Canada but spend three to six months a year at Lake Chapala. What do we do? We have nine regular meetings a year, most with a theme. These provide the opportunity to meet aviation-minded people in a structured but informal setting. We also participate in additional activities beyond the regular meeting schedule. Refer to the menu on the left hand side of the screen and click on program to see the current year's schedule of events. The Wing actively encourages spouse or partner involvement in many of its activities. As a result, members have the opportunity to share a rich social life. We also use the Wing as a forum for the exchange of information and experiences on subjects ranging from medical care to car repair. Many members, especially those who are new to Mexico, have found these exchanges to be of great benefit. Many friendships have evolved from Wing membership. When and where do we meet? 904 Wing normally meets the second Friday of each month, usually at La Nueva Posada Hotel in Ajijic. Meetings begin at 1600 hrs and finish at 1800 hrs. Optionally, Spouse and partners, if not attending the meeting, then join us for cocktails at 6:00 PM and we go to dinner about 6:30 PM. 904 Wing Beer Calls normally are the fourth Friday of each month (except for Dec May June July & Aug when they will be held on the second Friday), usually at the Old Posada in Ajijic from 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs. Visitors Welcome All AFAC members visiting Lake Chapala and anyone interested in joining 904 Wing are welcome to join us at our regular meetings. Check the program to confirm meeting dates, times and places. Note that some events do require the pre-purchase of tickets. Number of visitors |
